祝辞

私はTPOメンバーの皆さんの25周年をお祝いしたく思います。これを成し遂げたことは素晴らしいことであり、あなた方はそれを誇りに思うべきです。私は特にあなた方がアメリカの慣習に向けた情熱に感動しています。あなた方が今年のエキスポに参加出来ることを望んでいます。


I wish to congratulate all TPO members on their 25 year anniversary! It is a wonderful accomplishment you should be proud of. I am particularly impressed with your passion for an American institution! Hope your members can attend Expo this year. Rob

親愛なるTPOメンバーの皆さんへ。

私はあなた方からお祝いのメッセージを求められたことを名誉に思います。またこれに優るタイミングはないことを感じています。それは正に運命そして宿命となることを意味していたのでしょう。8月1日、あなた方の25周年の記念日は偶然にも私の誕生日なのです。従って、おめでとうの言葉は私達すべてのためにあります。

極めて真面目な話ですが私とあなた方は広大な海洋を挟んで何千マイルもの距離を隔て、文化や生活経験の違いを持っています。それなのに共通の絆を持っているというのは驚くべきことです。それは私達をグローバルな一家族のようにする素晴らしい創造物"ピンボール"に対する愛です。そしてそれが即ちピンボールであるが故、私達はそれぞれが神聖で本当に幸運なのです。

ピンボールに対する私達の共有の愛は、世界中の何百万もの人々によってピンボールの精神と活力を支えています。現在はピンボールをビジネスとして生産する会社が1社しか残っていないという暗い状況ではあります。もはや私達はかつてのように街なかで多くのピンボールマシンを見付けることが出来ません。しかしピンボールマシンは個人コレクションや書物や雑誌、そして海を越えてのピンボール・ニュースグループでのメッセージの中で持ちこたえています。その他にもピンボールを支援するためのイベントなどがあり、そのような息吹の数を数えることは私達が孤独ではないことを教えてくれるのです。そして私達の努力はピンボールに新しい生命とエネルギーを与えることが出来るかも知れません。

それ故私はTPOの皆さんがボールをはじくことを決して停止させることなくピンボールの喜びを祝福し続け、またもう一度の「25年間」があることを願っています。


My dear friend and all of the TPO members:

I am honored that you would want me to send a message but also feel that your timing couldn't be better. I suppose that it is fate, destiny and meant to be. You see, your 25th anniversary happens to be on my birthday--so congratulations to us all.

Quite seriously, however, it is amazing to think that although we are separated by a vast ocean, thousands of miles and, of course, a difference in cultures and life experiences that we do have a common bond. We have a shared love of an incredible creation that makes us one global family---pinball--and because of pinball, each of us are blessed and, indeed, fortunate.

With our shared love of pinball, we, along with millions of other individuals the world over, are helping to keep the spirit and vitality of pinball alive. Although the times might be somewhat dark due to the fact that only one manufacturer remains in the business of creating new pinball machines; that we no longer can find the abundance of pinball machines that we once could down many city streets, the games endure--in private collections, in books, magazines and messages that cross the oceans via the pinball newsgroups. There are other events which help to celebrate all that is pinball and for each of these things we should count our blessings that we are not alone and that maybe with our efforts we can help to bring new life and energy to pinball.....

So here is my wish for another 25 years for TPO....may you continue to celebrate the joys of pinball and never, ever stop flipping....

あなた方の記念日を、そしてあなた方がウイリアムス社の長年の成功に寄与して下さったことをお祝いさせて頂きます。私の望みはTPOメンバーの皆さんのための引続き成功に満ちた将来にあります。


Congratulations on your anniversary and your contributions to the successful years of Williams Electronics. My wishes are extended to all TPO members for a continued successful future.
